A driver has made a miraculous escape after their car became airborne and flipped on its roof on a busy motorway in the middle of peak hour traffic.
Dash cam footage captured the moment the driver lost control of their vehicle after crashing into a smaller car on Melbourne's EastLink tollway on Wednesday.
Incredible video of the incident shows the SUV ramming into the back of another car at speed, before flipping on its side and crashing heavily onto a grass median strip.
The incident, which occurred near the Heatherton Road overpass, was captured by a fixed camera in another car driving just behind.
Video shows the car moving into the far right lane of the three-lane road at close to 100km/h, before suddenly having to swerve to avoid a Mini Cooper.
But despite its efforts, the SUV is unable to miss the car in front, clipping its right back corner.
The force of the collision spun the Mini Cooper around, before throwing the SUV into the air.
