Fly-tipping has long been a problem in Machynlleth and the Plas area, as pictured here in March 2016
A COMPLETE car engine is one of the many items that has been dumped in the car park at the Plas grounds as the fly-tipping problem in the area grows worse, councillors have been warned.
Cllr Rhydian Mason said he had been shocked to find the engine had been dumped at the car park, as well as rubble, and said the town council needed to try and do something to address the problem.
Cllr Mason said fellow town councillors: "It takes some doing to tip a whole car engine. It's getting out of hand there.
"That car park at the back is a mess. We all know it.
"Powys County Council has taken a very useful facility away from Machynlleth and people are now looking for somewhere else to go."
The town council had warned when Powys County Council closed the Potters Yard facility that it was likely to lead to an increase in fly tipping in the town.
