Three hurt as car damages Ludlow Food Centre cafe

A car smashed the glass front of a popular out-of-town Ludlow cafe, causing minor injuries to three people.

Emergency crews were called to the Ludlow Kitchen, the on-site cafe at the Ludlow Food Centre complex, next to the A49 at Bromfield, north of Ludlow at about noon.

Fire crews were called from Craven Arms, Ludlow and Wellington, along with police and an ambulance, but nobody was trapped in the vehicle or seriously injured.

Amy Willmett at the Ludlow Food Centre said there had been damage to the frontage of the cafe. She said she understood a car had hit an outdoor table, which in turn had hit the glass at the front of the building.

Claire Brown, speaking for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "One ambulance attended. There were two patients in the car, but nobody was trapped, and one other who was sitting at a table and suffered minor injuries."

She said no one had to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews made the scene safe and helped administer first aid. The building was not structurally damaged.
