Fancy a cheap and cheerful motor? Five brand new cars you can get for less than £110 per month

Could you really get a brand new car for under £110 per month? If you are happy to get a small hatchback and take out a finance deal that means you don't really own it, then the answer is yes.

Personal contract purchase finance schemes – commonly called PCPs – are a very popular way to buy a new car.

They are configured so that the monthly payments are low, and a lot of flexibility is built into them so that if your circumstances change, your finance scheme can too. The monthly payments go towards the cost of the car, but unless you decide to buy it at the end of the scheme you do not really own it.

Bargain: The cheapest car on sale in the UK is the Dacia Sandero

Here, we're looking at some of the most affordable cars available through a PCP de al, picked by What Car?, where you can find more information on them.

Most of them are low-priced city cars, which makes the 15 per cent deposit we've allowed for each deal manageable.

We've quoted for that deposit level on a three-year scheme, with a total 30,000-mile limit.

Some of the cars you can buy for so little really are striking.

Dacia Sandero 1.2 SCe Ambience 5dr: £96 per month

The deal: 3-year PCP with 7.9% APR and a Dacia deposit contribution of £500

The cheapest car on sale in the UK is the Dacia Sandero, above, with a starter price of £5,995. We'd rather go for the better-equipped Ambience though: it includes Bluetooth, remote locking and electric front windows, which delive rs perfect no-frills motoring without making you suffer.

More space: The Logan MCV is the roomy estate sister car of Dacia Sandero

Dacia Logan MCV 1.2 Access 5dr: £97 per month

The deal: 3-year PCP with 7.9% APR and a Dacia deposit contribution of £500

Need more space than the Sandero? The Logan MCV is its roomy estate sister car. It's still cheap, but includes an eye-opening amount of space. This deal is for the more basic Access, but its unpainted bumpers and basic-look interior seem to suit the workmanlike nature of the Logan MCV.

Add-ons: The Kia Picanto deal includes air conditioning

Kia Picanto 1.0 65 1 Air 5dr: £105 per month

The deal: 3-year PCP with 0% APR

OK, these deals cost a little more than £100, but they're still so cheap, we hope you won't mind. Take this little Kia Picanto, a car that's fun to drive and even includes air conditioning as part of the deal. Yes, there's a new one on the way soon, but that's the very reason this one is so affordable. Pounce while you can.

Skoda Fabia is considered by What Car? to be the best small car you can buy

Skoda Fabia 1.0 MPI 60 S 5dr: £107

The deal: 3-year PCP with 2.9% APR and a Skoda deposit contribution of £2000

The superb Skoda Fabia is considered b y What Car? to be the best small car you can buy. How tempting is owning one for £107 a month, then? The 1.0-litre engine is a bit slow, and it doesn't have air con, but it's still a storming deal that's further sweetened by Skoda's £2,000 deposit contribution.

Celerio's 1.0-litre engine is more than man enough for both city and motorway

Suzuki Celerio 1.0 SZ2 5dr: £109

The deal: 3-year PCP with 5.9% APR

Suzuki's little Celerio is a budget car that's a packaging marvel. It's well equipped too, and the 1.0-litre engine is more than man enough for both city and motorway. Cheap to run as well as a bargain to buy, this is a deal so sharp, we'd even recommend you consider trading up to SZ3 trim for just a few pounds per month more: the extra equipment is worth it.
