An 89-year-old driver has been arrested after two women were killed when a car hit a group of pedestrians outside a hospital.
The victims, aged 44 and 49, were pinned against a wall when a Ford Focus suddenly veered out of control and hit them. It is unclear if the pair were patients or visitors.
They were standing on a walkway next to the car park of Withington Community Hospital in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon.
According to witnesses the car was performing a U-Turn when it crashed into bollards and lamp posts before hitting the pedestrians.
More people were initially feared to have been injured but an ambulance spokesman confirmed last night there were no reports of any other casualties.
