ARI gives Shimano 11 speed cassettes a jump w/ 48t adapter for XT and XTR.
While we wait for Shimano's 11-46t wide range cassettes to become available, more companies are offering solutions for the existing 40/42t cassettes. Switching to a 1x drivetrain has a number of advantages, but most mortals still need a wide range with a large bail out gear. Although not quite as big as the OneUp Shark 50t adapter, Ari is stepping in with a 48t cassette adapter of their own. Following in the footsteps of their other products, the new 48t is made in Italy and available in a number of colors…
Just like other cassette adapters, the Ari 48t cog works by removing one of the smaller gears from the cassette and installing the remaining cassette over the adapter. That means removing either the 15, 17, or 19t cog – or you could remove both the 17 and 19t and replace them with Ari's 18t replacement cog for more even jumps up high.
The 7075 T6 aluminum adapters are offered in 13 colors and are available in models to fit the XTR M9000 11-40t, the XT M8000 11-40t, or the XT M8000 11-42t cassettes. Each cassette has a specific adapter for the best shifting and a claimed weight of 122g. Available now, outside of Italy the adapters will run €75 plus shipping costs.
