E3 2016: Microsoft Announces Xbox One S, Project Scorpio, Forza Horizon 3 in Australia.
The Microsoft E3 Briefing has wrapped up, and here's everything you might have missed! The show launched with the Xbox One S, a slimline version of their current console. It features 4K Ultra HD support for video, a new IR blaster, an integrated power supply and, perhaps most interestingly, no dedicated port for the Kinect 2.0. If you want to hook your Kinect up to the machine, you have to use a USB adapter. They dropped a hype real trailer — check it out below.
Gears of War 4 was up next, and with it came the revelation of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. A cross compatibility program, Xbox Play Anywhere shares purchases across the Xbox One store and the Windows 10 store — buy it on one platform and you own it on both. Achievements are shared across the systems as well, and cross-platform play is integrated in by default.
Gear of War 4, meanwhile, looks otherworldly as players tackle the very familiar gameplay loop perfected by Epic Games with the original trilogy. New weapons, new enemies and new locations look to draw fans of the series straight back in again.
Forza Horizon 3 was up next, and get this — it's set in Australia! The game seems to meld Australian biomes together to create an amalgam of our great island/continent, but that's no biggy. It will have the largest car roster and largest game world in Forza Horizon to date, a four player co-op campaign and it will launch on September 27, 2016.
Dead Rising 4 merely got a teaser trailer, but it does look pretty fantastic, hinting at more zombies, more crazy weapon combinations and more of what makes Dead Rising one of those experiences people actually buy consoles for. Watch the trailer for yourself.
Hideki Kamiya hit the stage to talk Scalebound, the dragon-riding action game from Platinum Games. They were specifically showing off the co-op, where four dragon-riding club kids can fight giant enemy crabs at the same time. It actually looks pretty fantastic — a beautiful combination of colourful art, epic action and a soundtrack that will no doubt be divisive. Watch it below.
