IPhone 7 to ship with standard EarPods and Lightning adapter?.
Apple will sell its forthcoming iPhone 7 with a special headphone adapter and a standard pair of its EarPods, with the aim of helping users make the switch to its new headphone system that uses the Lightning dock connector now utitilsed for charging and data transfers. Given that we've seen other Android OEMs beat Apple to the punch, it doesn't seem like a particularly far-fetched rumor, although it would be rather inconvenient as many audio products still rely on the 3.5mm jack and port. However, according to the latest leaked images of alleged iPhone 7 components the handset might just retain the legacy port this year. It's still unclear, however, what the storage lineup will look like overall.
Leaked imaged from Rock Fix, a Chinese repairs shop, have appeared via Weibo and show what's claimed to be the iPhone 7 dual camera unit.
The Japanese site also claims that the regular Apple EarPods will still be included with the iPhone 7, instead of EarPods equipped with a Lightning connector.
We ran a poll last month asking users what headphones they would like Apple to bundle with the iPhone 7. Removing the 3.5mm opening erases one port where water can enter the device. Previous rumors have speculated that Apple would be shipping a new Bluetooth-capable version of its EarPods for the new devices.
As of right now, a lot of rumors are going around as to what the next iPhone could possibly be.
From a manufacturing objective, it makes sense for Apple to continue to include the 3.5mm EarPods this year.
What do you think of the possibility of Apple including 3.5mm EarPods and an adapter with the iPhone 7, as opposed to Lightning EarPods?
